Department of Biosystems Engineering

The Department of Biosystems Engineering commenced its academic activities in 2008 with the admission of undergraduate students. Currently, the department comprises seven faculty members specializing in agricultural machinery mechanics and agricultural mechanization, along with two technical staff members. It offers programs at various academic levels, including:

• Undergraduate: Agricultural Mechanization Engineering
• Master’s Programs:
  • Agricultural Mechanization (Specialization in System Management and Analysis)
  • Biosystems Mechanics (Specialization in Post-Harvest Technologies)

The department’s undergraduate curriculum covers key areas such as agricultural system analysis, post-harvest technologies, energy and recycling, and waste management.

• Establishing research centers in renewable energy applications in agriculture, food industry waste management, and agricultural product waste management
• Enhancing collaborations with top international universities
• Developing joint educational programs with foreign universities at the master’s and doctoral levels
• Securing international research projects
• Obtaining research funding from government organizations and private companies
• Designing, manufacturing, and advancing agricultural machinery adapted to modern technologies and local conditions
• Becoming the first entrepreneurial academic unit in the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Guilan
• Launching a specialized journal on Agricultural Systems Management and Analysis
• Establishing knowledge-based companies led by graduates of the mechanization program in the agriculture and industry sectors
